iRobot Vacuum Video Reviews
This is a quick review of the iRobot Roomba 650 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner.
It’s the entry level vacuuming robot targeted at people with smaller living areas. In the box you’ll get the iRobot Roomba 650 itself,a self-charging base, an extra AeroVac filter, an auto virtual wall and a cleaning tool.
Here are a few stats you should care about.
|Product Dimensions||13.4 x 3.6 x 13.4 inches|
|Item Weight||11.7 pounds|
A battery charge should last 45-90 minutes depending on the terrain. It adjusts to all floor types including carpet,tile, hardwood and laminate. And it can be scheduled to run once per day automatically.
Here are a few negatives.
It can get stuck under furniture if it’s clearance is close to the Roomba‘s height.It may go into a room like a bathroom and shut the door on itself. The patterns on the carpet will not look perfect like your dad mows the grass. It will look randomly clean and you will get used to it.
Chairs and stools with narrow legs will need to be moved prior to running the Roomba.
Positives for the Roomba 650.
It picks up tons of dog hair and in general you will be surprised how much it will pickup on a daily basis. People who run Roomba daily report they don’t need to dust as often and their HVAC filters last longer.
Plus, it’s a robot and robots are cool. Your kids will probably even give it a name.
There is one warning though.
Make sure thereis no dog poop in the Roomba‘s way, or it could drag it all over your carpet.

Love this Roomba 650! I’ve had this for a week now and I really like it. Previously I had the Neato D3 and that thing has lots of bugs to work out in its programming. The Neato constantly gets stuck, runs out of battery before docking itself, and can’t find itself out of a corner in the room. This Roomba 650 has much fewer “stuck” moments, has successfully found its way back to its docking station before running out of battery, and is able to weave itself out of corners just fine. We named our Roomba “Dirty Harry”. My 7 year old daughter thought it reminded her of Harry Potter and then I added the “Dirty” part since it cleans dirt. Hence, Dirty Harry.
So I pimped out our Roomba 650 with “Self-Stick Heavy Duty Felt Strip Roll for Hard Surfaces (1/2″ x 60″), Brown” to protect our furniture. Yes, its from Amazon. Its self-adhesive felt that you can tape around the edges of the Roomba, I cut slits where the dust collection bin removes from the body of the Roomba. I also cut a 2 inch segment of felt from the front of the Roomba so that it can dock and charge properly. The 1/2 inch thick felt on the side of the Roomba makes it a little difficult for the metal charging contacts to meet when the Roomba is docked.
All in all, I’m very happy. I run Dirty Harry twice a day in our home. Our floors have never been cleaner. I have it programmed to run at 4am, seven days a week. Then we run it again in the evening. Our Dirty Harry never complains, never claims to be too sick to work, too tired, too bored, needs a bathroom break, needs a smoke break, wants the weekend off, wants a raise, needs more money for alimony or gambling debts. Nope! He just works.
6] Noise level doesn’t seem to be any more (or less) than my old Neato D3 (which the D3 claimed to be quieter than other robot cleaners)
