Pros of iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum:

1. I’ve got a cat & am constantly battling cat hair. Despite an air cleaner in each and every room of the house & daily vacuuming (not exaggerating) my short haired cat sheds greater than I’m able to even describe! I’ve this vacuum on the schedule via my application on my small iPhone to hoover daily..yes DAILY. Every single day there’s a number of cat hair within the bin! After I vacuumed with my Dyson daily, it might have a week before I’d the equivalent hair the iRobot Roomba 690 accumulates in a single day. Consequently I’ve observed an enormous improvement in mid-air quality less vehicle hair floating with the hair, on my small furniture, clothes, etc.

2. You actually can’t get any longer low maintenance. I’d a problem having a chair leg (funky modern chair which has an usual base) & I’d get home to locate it stuck the very first week I made use of my iRobot Roomba 690. But after you have creative & putting a box in the region, Roomba learned to to understand that area and finally stopped trying to climb within the chair leg. You read that properly it learned, it appreciated & after in regards to a week, I removed the make shift box barricade also it wasn’t any longer an issue.

3. I adore it vacuums daily! I simply make use of the application to regulate the schedule time the night time before, according to after i know I am departing the home the following day, since my schedule varies. I actually do it the same time frame I set my noisy alarms.

4. The application rocks! I will be abroad & will receive a notification that “Roomba has effectively completed its job”

5. The application also shows your Roomba’s cleaning history dates it cleaned & how lengthy it cleaned for I.E. the house is under 1,000 sq foot. and also the Roomba averages one hour clean time (consider that, when maybe you have vacuumed for a whole hour straight?! Never! This is exactly why it accumulates a lot dirt!)

6. Battery existence is not an issue cleans entire house on the full charge.

7. Low maintenance. I empty the dust bin daily (mostly b/c I am curious). But haven’t needed to go apart to wash every other parts yet.

Cons of iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum:

NOTHING for me!!

*For those who have creatures that puke, pee, poop in your floors either have them correctly trained or insert them in another room although this vacuum runs. B/c iRobot Roomba 690 will most certainly smear your pets fluids throughout you floors. After which you are not just going to need to clean your floors however the Roomba too. Furthermore, be careful about your pets round the vacuum for that first week approximately. My pal were built with a perfectly trained, house damaged dog, who come to discover, wasn’t keen on this vacuum and wound up pooping in the home (either from fear or protest) and she or he came the place to find dog sh*t smeared throughout her floors. She am pissed, she put the vacuum within the garbage! You shouldn’t be like my pal.

Only other factor I wish to say, is people use good sense. This isn’t a maid. For those who have stuff on the ground that will get twisted inside a standard push vacuum should you ran regarding this you know what…it is going to get twisted within this one too! Duhh! It’s not necessary to get everything’ll navigate around footwear (as lengthy because the laces aren’t dangling out), pillows, boxes, magazines, books, furniture, etc. without any problems! However if you simply have your phone charger, shoelaces, anything much like thin, pliable rope formed stuff lounging around.. it’ll get twisted for the reason that. Cords, thicker cables (I’ve my air cleaner on the ground, that is connected to the wall that isn’t an issue. It will not rip that from the wall or get twisted, it always circles it or will roll over it without any problems).

The bottom line is you’ve still got to get off your floors. Otherwise it’ll either vacuum around your stuff or even snag (cut any frays off floor rugs, for instance, otherwise it’ll pull your entrance floor rug over the entire house because it vacuums). If that is an excessive amount of for you receive a cleaning service & employ a maid. Don’t blame my new closest friend Roomba. The small guy can’t try everything for you personally. Be sensible.

*updated after 3rd week of use* We bought Ruby after several weeks of debating, researching and reading reviews. I’m cheap. I hate spending money. For a little background, we are two working adults living in a wooded area, with a German Shepherd and a Pitbull. The German Shepherd sheds as if his skin is constantly on fire and his fur is running for its collective lives. I’m talking some serious shedding here. The pitbull loves dirt and mud and anything gross and will gladly collect as much as she can possibly manage to bring back inside with her. My husband and I both enjoy the outdoors and bring in our own dirt on top of all this. Typically, once the floors started showing signs of needing a good sweep/mop, it took about 2.5 hours to complete the job start to finish. This does not include the time we both spent trying to trick/bribe the other into doing the floors for us. After all the slaving, inevitably a doggie hair tumbleweed or two would sneak its way out from under a sofa just to make sure we knew we were not in control here. Enter Ruby. Oh Ruby… how I love thee. I ordered Ruby on a Sunday, coincidentally the same day I talked my husband into sweeping and mopping the floors without my assistance.

Great if you like to take things apart and fix them

I WANT to love this thing. When it works, it is AMAZING. It is great on dog hair and I use my actual vacuum much less. My entryway has never looked better. The only problem is that it has these things called “cliff sensors” that detect dark areas and makes it go in reverse to avoid going over a “cliff” like stairs. But these sensors see anything that is black or very dark as potential cliffs and won’t go. I didn’t know about this when I purchased it, but reading the forums, this is a known problem. I have no need to use this upstairs, only downstairs. So there are no real “cliffs” I have to worry about. I noticed it would get stuck EVERY TIME under my dining room table. There is a black design in my area rug there. It refuses to clean the corners of my living room area rug, but I can live with that. But it literally gets stuck each day. I get a notification on my phone say “Roomba is stuck near a cliff and needs assistance.” Since I am not home, it just ends the mission there. Sometimes 5 min into the clean, sometimes 15 min, occasionally 30 min. But it always gets stuck. So to the forums I go!! I read about covering the sensors (this model has five around the front and sides) with paper. Didn’t work.

LOVE it!

I have 2 dogs, a cat and a kid. This means that at least one of my days off every week is devoted to cleaning. Obviously part of that process is vacuuming. Living in a two story house, vacuuming entails carrying my Dyson Ball upstairs and downstairs, stretching the cord from room to room and moving beds/furniture. I’ve frequently looked at Roombas, but always decided that it probably wasn’t for me. I doubted the robot’s ability to properly vacuum and wasn’t willing to gamble a few hundred bucks to let it try to prove me wrong. When this Roomba showed up on the Vine, I couldn’t pass it up. In the box is the Roomba, charging/home base, an extra filter, invisible gate with included batteries (more on that in a bit), and a cleaning multitool. Setup is pretty easy. Plug the home base into an outlet wherever you want it, place the Roomba on the charging contacts, download the app and setup the wifi so it can be controlled via the app and receive updates and you’re done. Wifi was easy to set up. Just put in your wifi info and press 2 buttons on the top of the Roomba and it syncs up in under a minute. The app is pretty straightforward. You can name your Roomba, I named mine Bender Rodriguez because I’m a nerd.

Love it!

This device (we have the 690 model) has proven to be much better than I expected. I have pets with long hair and while you have to run it a lot to get all the hair, there is no way we would ever have the patience to vacuum a rug for as long as the Roomba will do it. You can vacuum and then run this and have a lot more hair picked up. I put it in our bedroom, close the door and let it run until it needs recharging (about an hour). It’s also fun to watch it learn if you happen to be in the room with it. It works well on our short shag and gets up under things to vacuum the hard to reach places. The only down side is that there are no attachments so you can’t use it to vacuum pet hair off of furniture. Another possible down side is that anything spilled or if you have a pet that is not quite housebroken – as smart as the Roomba is it cannot smell or see – it will spread anything just like you stepping in it and walking around the house without knowing.

Initial setup went great through the iRobot app. But I had a horrible time setting up Google Assistant. After finally getting everything going Roomba started cleaning and then got stuck between four legs of a chair… a chair… It just kept going in circles under it trying to get out. Why programmers couldn’t getting a functional algorithm for getting out of a tight spot is beyond me. Are chairs not a common obstacle these things should be familiar with? I’m pretty frustrated at this point so I’ll probably come back later with an update. This is my 3rd cleaning robot… But first Roomba. I finally went with this one because of frustrations from generic brands. It seems the popular Roomba isn’t much better. We’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks… One other thing I’ve noticed already is that it SLAMS into furniture. Neither the Eufy nor iLife models were this clumsy. I’ll give it a few weeks to redeem itself but I’m left irritated and contemplating a return at the moment.
