I have had the Ecovac Deebot M82 for less than a week, but I have put it through its paces and it is very impressive. I have hardwood with area rugs, tile in the kitchen and carpeting in the basement. It does a great job cleaning the wood and tile as well as the area rugs, but as the instructions indicate, you need to tuck fringes underneath so they don’t get caught (same for thin wires that most phone chargers have). The carpeting cleaning is wonderful and thorough. It runs for at least 2 hours and 45 minutes on a full charge and has always found its way back to the charging station. I have it clean the living room, dining room, entry hall and kitchen on one charge. Also did upstairs hall and two bedrooms on one charge. It did get stuck under a chair which was the exact wrong height, but with a minor adjustment to the chair, that won’t happen again. Cleaning the machine is simple and straightforward (perhaps a larger dust bin would be nice, so you don’t have to empty between charges). The pre-set cleaning time function with the remote works well.

Great Vacuum and Customer-Care but Possible System Errors after a Year

I bought this a year ago and it has been working really hard cleaning our living room clean ever since. It is very effective and I have been very happy with the purchase. A month before the warranty expired, my wife told me it was going crazy at times. I asked her to clean it when it does that and did not mind to check it since it appeared to be fine when I was around. When the warranty was about to expire it started stopping within 10 seconds and going in circles before beeping 4 times. I figured the beeping indicated an issue with the main brush and cleaned it and greased it – the brush was clean already. By this time the warranty period had elapsed! Not having any solution to get the vacuum cleaner to work, I contacted the customer-care through Amazon. I got a quick response asking to run it without the main brush. It did not resolve the issue. They told me they will replace the vacuum. This was unexpected as the warranty period had elapsed when I contacted them, even though the issue had started within the warranty period. They generated a pre-paid slip to send my vacuum to them and they sent a brand new vacuum within a week.

I love this robotic vacuum. Easy to set up. Easy to use. And it picks up an incredible amount of household floor grunge – even when my floors and rugs have just recently been carefully cleaned. All I need to do is clear electric cords and small furniture out of the way, then turn the DEEBOT on. Easy. This vacuum runs very quietly, doesn’t bang into or mar the woodwork or furniture, and I love that it will take itself “home” if it needs a recharge. The only complaint I might ever have would be that I can waste far too much time just watching this robot make its way around … around a room, around the table and chair legs, in and out of corners, all around the house. I can get mesmerized, like watching fish in an aquarium. Too much fun! I recommend this product highly.

This works SO much better than I expected it to. A great value!

WOW, this works much better than expected! I have been eyeballing these for some time and always hesitated to spend the $$$. I don’t mind spending extra for a good product, but I hate wasting money. This M82 came up as available as an Amazon warehouse deal “like new, box may be damaged”, so I ordered it for about $140. It has no wi-fi, mapping or mopping functions, but exchanges those features for an upgraded bigger dustbin, better battery, quieter operation, and a lower price. Holy cow I wish I had sooner. I’ve almost considered sending it back just to order a quieter one that mops and self cleans for $500, but for the price I’ll just keep it. It is excellent. Our kids have renamed it Cinderella, and even the dog tolerates her very well after the first day. Run time: Right now, it is docking itself after 3 hours and 10 minutes of cleaning tile and area rugs all over my 1500sf house. Yes, over 3 hours -although it seems to more commonly run for around 2.5. Run time is important because these clean so well because these make up for lack of power (compared to full size vacuums) by being repetitious.

Robotic vacuum cleaners still have a long way to go.

I bought a Rumba years ago when they first came out and my first disappointment occurred when I turned it on and realized it was just as loud as a regular vacuum, something they didn’t show you in the ads. I’m happy to say this little vacuum is much quieter than a regular vacuum, but is still a bit noisy. The main problem however is it missed spots. I have resorted to two things. One is to get a broom and sweep crumbs into its path like a curler sweeping the ice in the Olympics. Even then it still doesn’t suck up everything. The second thing I do is to just let it run until the rechargable battery goes dead, which is hours, but then it gets most everything, however it never gets up all the crumbs/debris. I recommend sticking with a conventional vacuum.
